How to use the Planning Poker template in Collaboard

  1. Open the template – Select the “Planning Poker Template” in Collaboard or add it as a new board. The template is ready to use immediately—no technical setup required.
  2. Use or customize the card deck – The template includes a pre-built card deck with the following values:
  • 0: Task has already been completed
  • 1, 3, 5: Small tasks with low effort
  • 8, 13: Medium tasks – 13 is often the highest complexity for a task that is still feasible within a sprint
  • 20, 40: Tasks are too large for a sprint and should be broken down further
  • 100: Very extensive or currently unestimable – e.g., an EpicYou can flexibly customize the card deck – for example, to T-shirt sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) or your own custom estimates.

3. Invite team members – Share the link to the board so that all participants can join simultaneously, regardless of location.

4. Start the estimation round – Start the round and use the built-in timer to limit the time for discussion and selection.

5. Reveal cards and evaluate results – Once the timer expires, all cards become visible at the same time. This allows you to transparently discuss estimation differences and reach a consensus.
