OKR Template: Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Any questions? We are here to help.
OKR stands for 'Objectives and Key Results.' It is a goal-setting framework used by companies to set clear, measurable objectives and track progress against specific outcomes (Key Results).
An effective OKR template should include sections for defining Objectives (goals), the associated Key Results, initiatives or actions to achieve those results, and space for regular progress reviews.
It is generally recommended that each person or team set no more than three to five Objectives per quarter, with each Objective having three to five Key Results. This helps maintain focus on what matters most and avoid overload.
The success of OKRs is measured by achieving or exceeding the Key Results, which can be expressed in percentages, numerical values, or concrete milestones. Progress should be reviewed and assessed regularly, typically weekly or monthly.
OKRs are particularly well suited for quantifiable goals that are clearly defined and measurable. However, they can also be adapted for broader, more ambitious goals as long as clear Key Results are established that make progress measurable.
OKRs and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) both serve to measure performance, but OKRs are often more ambitious and future-oriented, while KPIs tend to measure the current state of performance and are more commonly used to evaluate ongoing operations.
OKRs should be reviewed regularly, ideally weekly or monthly, to ensure they remain relevant and that progress is being made. Adjusting or updating OKRs can be done at the end of each quarter or as needed to adapt them to changing circumstances or priorities.
